A knockout field of 16 are likely to go postward in the 2010 Singapore International Airlines Cup on Sunday, May 16 at Kranji Racecourse. Over 2,000 meters on the turf, the race features no lack of action from Dubai racing graduates. 2010 Dubai World Cup (G1) winner GLORIA DE CAMPEAO, the 2009 SIA Cup victor, returns to Singapore for his first start following a thrilling narrow victory in the UAE.
LIZARD’S DESIRE, second in both the Dubai World Cup and last week’s Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1), is scheduled to appear, as is last year’s SIA Cup runner-up PRESVIS, fifth beaten less than two lengths in the paceless QE II Cup. Third home in that race, SUPER SATIN, is also slotted for a run.
2010 Dubai Duty Free (G1) shocker AL SHEMALI will go postward for Ali Rashid Al Raihe as will the second home in that event, Herman Brown-trainee BANKABLE, third in this race a year ago. LAHALEEB, sixth in the Duty Free last time out, is scheduled to appear as well. France’s CHINCHON, denied a start in Hong Kong due to the volcanic ash over Europe, is on track for a start while Australia’s most recent G1 winner, ROAD TO ROCK, is likely for Anthony Cummings. Japanese raiders SHADOW GATE, the 2007 SIA Cup winner, and YAMANIN KINGLY are expected, as are locally-based stalwarts: JOLIE’S SHINJU, EL DORADO, WAIKATO, GOLDSCHATZ, and DROVETTI.
ROCKET MAN, second in the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) will attempt to avenge his narrow defeat in last year’s KrisFlyer International Sprint (G1), without the horse that beat him, Sacred Kingdom.
DubaiRaceNight.com will be in Singapore for the big night of racing and looks forward to bringing you details from Kranji leading up to the race.
